  • Sudar entered the business of readymade garments manufacture on a job-work basis for exporters as a proprietary concern in 1992 with just two machines in an industrial unit located in a Chembur slum.
  • The Company was incorporated as Sudar Garments Private Limited on January 28 2002 under the Companies Act, 1956, with around 76 stitching and ancillary machines.
  • The Company was converted into a public company (Sudar Garments Ltd.) in 2010 with over 486 stitching machines and other ancillary machines.
  • The Company had 45sewing machines and ancillary supporting machines until 2006-07.
  • The Company installed 31additional sewing machines and implemented an assembly line to produce garments in 2007-08
  • The Company plans to manufacture around 800,000 garments per month on an average during 2012-13 as against 540,000 garments per month in 2011-12.
  • The Company floated an IPO in 2011-12 which was oversubscribed. The company intends to enhance production with funds from the IPO.
  • The Company intends to enter into the production of industrial uniforms for exports under its own brand and enter into the production of formal and casual wear.

Sudar is an integrated apparel manufacturer with the comprehensive capability to design and manufacture readymade garments (cutting, body stitching, washing, ironing and finishing). The Company specialises in the manufacture of shirts, trousers and other apparel for men, women and children. The Company manufactures and markets apparel under its proprietary ‘Glory to Glory' brand. The Company also engages in contract manufacture for Indian brands and merchant exporters.

The Company is headquartered in Mumbai (India) with its manufacturing unit at Khalapur Taluka (Raigad District) on the outskirts of Mumbai, India's financial capital. The unit is spread over 31,000 sq. metres with the manufacturing unit measuring around 54,000 sq. ft.. The Company also set up labour quarters for accommodating more than 350 employees.

The Company markets products to merchant exporters who market to buyers in the US, Italy, the UK and UAE. The Company's products are also marketed under the proprietary names of the established brand owners through their multi-brand outlets. This exercise has been done to study the depth and the demand of the company's brand, which it plans to introduce in the Indian market in the next couple of years.
